IT’S sad to see open squabbling between the Greens and some senior SNP figures. Both sides should realise that the real obstacle to progress towards both independence and a real green energy revolution is the pair of Unionist fossil-fuel-supporting behemoths running Westminster.

I’d suggest that, in place of futile squabbling, the Greens should acknowledge the close relationship between independence and progress towards proper renewable energy development, copying the SNP’s tactic by placing this sentence at the top of their manifesto: “Vote Green for Scotland to become an independent country”.

In return, the SNP should relax its Holyrood election demand of "both votes SNP" and offer some equivalent concession for the Westminster election, such as a commitment to extend the Bute House Agreement.
